As you wished us to do, we'll provide you with a couple of workshops on IT security topics for non techies. To provide you with the necessary tools and knowledge to protect yourselves from digital threats while keeping your minds free from stuff you don't want to deep dive into, we created an entire series. This way you can pick what you really need and want and won't have to fight anything else. As a bonus in this series we can provide you better with active support on applying the measures you want to take.
All workshops will be hosted online in English and are open for all FLINTA. All workshop moderators also speak Spanish and German (at different levels).

The starter is the "Security Basics - Digital Risks" Workshop, which will introduce you with an overview of risks and threats you may encounter. This workshop will provide you with the relevant means to different risks. You'll get to know which areas of your digital life may be exposed or at risk and what means exist to protect yourself.
In this workshop you will not implement any measures. After this workshop you can choose which measures you want to take and pick the relevant follow-ups (see below). If you are not sure which ones to choose yet: no worries - you'll get a link to a form which will help you to choose the most important stuff within this workshop.

First of all we have to talk about intruders and threats with special "access" and "rights". In this workshop you'll get to know which additional risks you're being exposed to and how to prevent authorities from violating your privacy and by that also the privacy of your friends & relatives. Even though some sentences try to restore civil rights once in a while we can and should always expect authorities to interprete law for their own benefit or simply breaking it.

Having your data stored safe & secure is crucial. Besides that many security measures of the follow-up workshops will require you to encrypt or modify your devices. Most of these processes either require you to backup & restore your data from the affected devices or at least recommend to do so. And we of course don't want you to encounter data loss throughout this workshop series. Therefore this workshop will help you to backup & restore your data secure and future-proof.

Secure devices are an essential first step to protect yourself. As long as your devices are not secured properly, many other means won't take effect because the access to a device can corrupt most security means. This workshop will support you with setting up the most important measures like proper password protection and encryption for your devices.
Preparation: You will need sufficient disk space on all devices you want to protect. Ideally would be you bring a new external disk.
